Andreas Pereira.

Andreas: I'll keep fighting for Ole

Friday 03 April 2020 10:29

Andreas Pereira says he wants to fight hard to bring Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the silverware the Manchester United manager craves.

The midfielder, speaking in a Google Hangout alongside team-mate Angel Gomes, spelled out his determination to repay the manager's faith in him and bring some joy to the Reds faithful when football resumes.

The Academy product says one of the reasons he joined the club, as a 16-year-old from PSV Eindhoven, was due to its unwavering belief in youth, and he has made 37 appearances in all competitions this term. He scored our last goal before the pause in action, during the Europa League victory against LASK in Austria.

"Even when I came to United at such a young age, going to United it's, of course, a massive club, but I know that they are willing to give youth a chance," he told Mark Sullivan.

“That is what happened with me. Ole knows we will always be there for him. The young players give our faith and do everything to protect him, as he gives all his trust to us.

“I'm very honoured and that's why, as well, I want to stay at United. I want to fight for him, win games and win trophies."

"I've seen it over the years, coming up from the Academy and being at United my whole career," added Gomes. "It's what I want to go on to do – win trophies for the club."

Angel also had a message for the supporters, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to take hold on society.

"Just to say, in this time, to make sure all fans stay safe and stay at home," he said. "We've got the medical staff out there and they need help from all of us. They are always out on the frontline, doing their best for us. Just stay patient and we'll be back out on the pitch soon."

Andreas, naturally, echoed those sentiments, as he showed off a newly shorn haircut.

"Just stay at home and enjoy your family's home," he said. "Just be a little bit more patient. We are a bit frustrated as well but, as soon as we are going to play the first game next season, or end this season – as we don't know – we'll give everything and you'll see us play well at Old Trafford and win games."
