Elanga credits two Reds for his stellar display
Manchester United youngster Anthony Elanga has explained how Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic were both key to his outstanding performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Swedish forward was named in the starting XI for the second time this month and broke the deadlock early on, by meeting an excellent Daniel James cross to impressively head home.
Elanga continued to shine at Molineux Stadium and impressed our fans enough to win the club’s official Man of the Match award, receiving more votes than any other player in the Official App.

“It has still not sunk in yet – it’s an amazing feeling,” beams Anthony in our post-match interview…
During a brilliant post-match interview with Stewart Gardner, a visibly delighted Anthony admitted he has sought the advice of two senior players before taking to the pitch.
“I felt really relaxed, even more than the first game,” he explained with a smile. “Obviously it was my first game so it was nervous and things like that.
“The second game I felt more relaxed, I was getting on the ball and keeping it simple. I was speaking to Juan and Matic before the game. They said 'if you simplify it, you'll be class, you'll be the best player on the pitch' and that's what I did. I was just trying to keep it simple but be effective with it.”

For such a young player on the big stage, Elanga showed an impressive amount of composure and the Academy starlet admits he could have scored another goal or two at Molineux.
“I felt really sharp today,” he said. “The ball from Alex [Telles], I think that was the easiest chance out of the lot, I think I could have just hit that first time. But I just kept going and then I had another opportunity on my left foot and it went over the bar. When the third opportunity came I just thought, 'nah, I'm gonna score this one'. I made a good connection with the head so that was good.”
