Martial trains ahead of Real Betis tie

As revealed by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag in his MUTV interview, Anthony Martial was back out training with the main group on Wednesday.

The French forward has only played once since being injured in the memorable 2-1 derby triumph over Manchester City in mid-January.

He returned as a substitute in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final with Nottingham Forest on 1 February, scoring the opening goal in a 2-0 victory on the night, but has been sidelined again since.

On Wednesday, the manager discussed his plans for our Europa League round-of-16 clash.

Ten Hag told us before the session, which was filmed by club and external media, that Martial is still unlikely to be involved against Real Betis.

Thursday's round-of-16 tie with the Spanish side in the Europa League looks to have probably come too soon for our no.9, who will hopefully be able to have a big impact on the remainder of the season, with our next fixture scheduled for Sunday, at home to Southampton in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old has scored six goals in all competitions this term, including one in his only Europa League outing, the 3-2 group-stage win at Omonia Nicosia back in October.

Victor Lindelof has also resumed training after being forced out of the defeat to Liverpool at the weekend.

Marcel Sabitzer was absent from training as he will miss the Betis clash but Raphael Varane and Casemiro were both present, as there is otherwise a clean bill of health, excluding long-term absentees Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek.
