Ten Hag: Martial's best in the middle
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag thinks Anthony Martial’s best position is leading the line, despite his versatility.
It was his first start since the Manchester derby on 14 January, so it was understandable that he was substituted after 62 minutes.
At a press conference ahead of this weekend’s Premier League match with Nottingham Forest, the boss said: “For me, he’s best as a centre-forward but I think he can play in more positions.”

Our no.9 has made 18 appearances this season but only 10 of those have been starts. Fitness issues have held the forward back, meaning the boss could not commit to an answer on the Frenchman’s long-term future just yet.
“It's difficult to say,” Ten Hag said.
“I want him to be because he’s a great player. He definitely has the qualities to play top football. When he’s fit, our team plays better.”
When pressed on if he felt Martial would be at the club next season, Ten Hag added: “From my point of view, yes.”
The manager also told reporters that he believes the Reds are moving in the right direction, albeit with some way to go before the team has developed completely to his satisfaction.
That togetherness can be demonstrated when United head to The City Ground on Sunday afternoon, seeking the win that would lift us into third place after 30 games played, following Newcastle's 3-0 away defeat to Aston Villa.
