Anthony Martial celebrates his goal against Everton at Old Trafford.

Martial tops Goal of the Month poll

Friday 02 November 2018 15:00

Anthony Martial has followed up his Player of the Month prize for October by also scooping our best goal accolade.

The France international scored for the third successive Premier League game in last weekend’s 2-1 victory over Everton at Old Trafford, taking his tally to five for the campaign in all competitions.

Martial curled a delightful finish from the edge of the box past Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford from Paul Pogba’s lay-off in the 49th minute, which proved to be the winner for the Reds.

Anthony Martial, 01.11.2018 says

"It's true that I've scored one or two nice goals but, for me, the best of the lot still has to be the one I scored against Liverpool on my debut."

Speaking to ManUtd.com this week, Anthony discussed the subject of goals and was asked to choose the best of his 41 strikes for United - to which he gave an emphatic response.

"It's true that I’ve scored one or two nice goals," he said. "But for me, the best of the lot still has to be the one I scored against Liverpool on my debut [in 2015]."

The 22-year-old claimed more than half of the votes (56 per cent) in our poll, conducted on ManUtd.com and in our official app. His second goal in the 2-2 draw at Chelsea came second, while Juan Mata’s free-kick against Newcastle finished in third spot.
