Ten Hag comments on Antony and Shaw injuries

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted it looks like Antony sustained a serious injury during the first half of the 4-1 win over Chelsea.

The Reds successfully booked a place in next season's Champions League with a comprehensive victory, but it seems to have come at a cost.

Not only was Antony in agony after being hurt in a challenge by Trevoh Chalabah, but Luke Shaw was withdrawn at half-time with an injury, as Tyrell Malacia took his place.

Marcus Rashford came on for Antony and scored our fourth goal, his 30th of the season, but the potential loss of Antony for the final match of the Premier League season, against Fulham, and, especially, the Emirates FA Cup final with Manchester City, would be a big blow, for the team and player.

Luke Shaw did not reappear for the second half, due to injury.

In an interview with beIN Sports, the boss said: "It's difficult always to say, straight after the game, but, yeah, Antony is serious. Luke Shaw, we have to see. I don't think it's too bad but we have to wait 24 hours. We'll have a diagnosis and we will know more."

During his press conference at Old Trafford, Erik added: “It’s difficult to say. Let’s wait for 24 hours and then we’ll know more.

"I don’t know [about Antony]. Everyone has seen he came off. I can tell you it is serious but we have to wait a minimum [of] 24 hours, then we know probably more about the status of the injury."

Third place is the objective when Fulham come to Old Trafford on Sunday, looking to avenge their FA Cup quarter-final defeat, before the first-ever all-Manchester final at Wembley.

Fans will be anxiously awaiting updates on Antony and Shaw, and we'll provide them, when available, on the United App and ManUtd.com.
