Antony appreciates the Old Trafford crowd

Manchester United forward Antony is excited to play in front of the home fans again this weekend, against Newcastle United.

The Brazilian new boy has had a bright start to his United career, scoring three goals in as many appearances in the Premier League. But it will be six weeks to the day since Antony has played at Old Trafford in the league, when he scored on his debut in the impressive 3-1 win over Arsenal.

Speaking to United Review, our no.21 expressed how the atmosphere generated by the United faithful helped him achieve this glorious moment.

"It was emotional," said Antony. "I had goosebumps stepping out there [against Arsenal], given the club’s history and the atmosphere with the United fans. I’m really happy to be a part of that now and experience the greatness, feel the goosebumps and the atmosphere with all the people.

Antony speaks about his first football memory in Brazil, his Reds debut, Ronaldo and more in this exclusive interview...

"To score a goal in my first game and feel that atmosphere behind me was really memorable. I felt them nearby cheering us on. It was a great moment for me and I’m grateful for all the affection from the United fans."

Antony and his team-mates face a tough test this afternoon, when Erik ten Hag's men take on Newcastle United. The Magpies have only lost once in the Premier League this season and are currently sixth in the table, one point behind the Reds. But with this challenge ahead of him, Antony naturally wants to give his all to continue his fine form.

"As I’ve said, I like to express my feelings, I’m a fighter and I give my all for the club," said the Brazilian.

"I’m happy for the opportunity and privilege to put on this shirt.  I hope to help to put United where they deserve to be and win great things as this is a massive club."
