Antony: I'm loving life here

Tuesday 16 May 2023 07:00

Reds winger Antony says he’s loving life in Manchester and hopes to spend a long time here representing United.

The Brazilian, who joined the club from Ajax last summer, has enjoyed his first term at Old Trafford and is not short of memorable moments to look back on, as his debut season approaches its conclusion.

He reflects on his initial months wearing the famous red shirt, in the exclusive interview you can read inside our new issue of Inside United, out today (Tuesday).

During the conversation for our monthly magazine, our no.21 also reveals how he’s adapted off the pitch, in what has been a new country for him.

“I feel like I’ve settled in and grown accustomed to the city of Manchester,” he says, in the interview.

“There are quite a few Brazilians here. Me and Casemiro are always hanging out, we're always doing something.

“I’ve settled into the city and I’m loving life here. I hope I can spend a long time here.”
Having Casemiro around, along with Fred and Lisandro Martinez, has been key to that adjustment process, according to Antony.

The 23-year-old tells us that the South American trio, like all of his United colleagues, have helped him enjoy a smooth transition to life over here.

“Definitely [knowing Casemiro, Fred and Martinez helped], and not just those guys, but Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot [have helped] as well,” he adds.

“They've helped me a lot, as has our keeper, David [De Gea]. Having this support, being able to get advice from them, have them show me around and introduce me to things means a great deal.

“I’m really happy to have been welcomed in like this by all the players here.”
Antony's close relationship with his team-mates has been evident on the pitch in his debut season.
