Antony promises more to come

Antony is focused on finishing the season strongly with Manchester United, to achieve our twin aims of clinching a top-four spot in the Premier League and lifting the Emirates FA Cup.

Erik ten Hag's side have already won the Carabao Cup in the Dutchman's first campaign in charge and will meet Manchester City in the final of the other major domestic cup competition on 3 June at Wembley.

Another trip to London is first on the agenda, though, as Tottenham provide the opposition in the capital tonight (Thursday), with the match kicking off at 20:15 BST.

With Aston Villa to follow at the weekend, the primary objective is strengthening our grip on one of the spots that secures Champions League football next term.

Antony has been in good form of late, and scored and assisted in our last game on the road in the division, the 2-0 triumph at Nottingham Forest.

"I always have to improve a lot as well," he told ICS in a pre-match interview. "I expect a lot of myself. There have been a lot of goals and assists, and I'm very happy with that, but there is a lot still to come.

"Absolutely, we have very difficult games. We are in a fight. Our objective is to get into the Champions League, it's a very clear objective that we are working towards.

"Manchester United is a great club. When I came here, I was hoping to win titles [trophies] and one is a great thing but it's an even better thing to have the chance to possibly be able to win two."

The 23-year-old thinks Spurs will be awkward opponents, coming into the game on the back of a 6-1 thumping at Newcastle United but then changing interim head coach, with Ryan Mason replacing Cristian Stellini.

"Well, it's a new story," he explained. "They might have suffered a heavy defeat but each game is a completely new story. We are going to have to work hard in this game to get the three points.

"We know of our own quality and we are ready and able to consider that we could mount a challenge for the Premier League title [next season]. It's very important for us. This season, we have shown what we are capable of. It's a season of adaptation, we've had a new manager and new players.

"When everything settles in, we should hopefully be in a position to battle for a title [in 2023/24]."
