Antony vows to build on performance
Antony has vowed that his hard work will start to pay off, as he looks to build on an impressive showing in the 4-2 win over Newport County.
The Brazil international helped the Reds secure a smooth passage into the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup, where Erik ten Hag's men will face an away tie at either Bristol City or Nottingham Forest.
After registering an assist for Bruno Fernandes's opener, Antony regained the lead for United in the second half with a calm finish, after Luke Shaw's effort bounced back off a post.
It was his first goal since the Premier League win at Forest back in April of last year and he is convinced there is much more end product, something the manager said on Sunday he demands from his wingers, to come before the season is out.
"I know it hasn't been an easy season," he acknowledged. "We didn't get the results we wanted as a team, but we never stopped working and focusing on what needed to be done to improve.
"I fought hard to reach the levels of playing for this club. I know I can build on yesterday’s performance and continue to show my qualities.
"I pushed myself day after day for better performances. I will continue to completely close myself off to improve and play the football that Manchester United hired me to do.
"The whole club, every fan, deserves the best from each one of us," he added. "United is one of the main clubs in the world, where everyone wants to be, and it's where I want to build my story."
Antony's next assignment will be in the Premier League on Thursday night, when United travel to Wolves for a 20:15 GMT kick-off.
The match is only our second in the division since the turn of the year as the Reds look to build some momentum and show we can finish the season strongly.
