When we play our rivals in the 2023/24 WSL

Tuesday 18 July 2023 10:00

The provisional dates for Manchester United's 2023/24 Women's Super League matches have been released, including details of when we will play our rivals both home and away in the competition.

The full schedule for the upcoming term is now out, and while the dates and times are subject to change, we now have a rough idea of how the campaign is mapped out for Marc Skinner's side.

Among the most intriguing factors for supporters on fixture-release day is finding out when we will go up against our biggest foes, and so, below, we've rounded up exactly when we can expect to face Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City in the league...

Revealed: United Women's 2023/24 WSL fixtures

The Reds' schedule for the new Women's Super League season has been announced.

ARSENAL

Home: 8 October 2023 (12:00 BST)
Away: 18 February 2024

United picked up two massive wins over the Gunners in 2022/23 - triumphing 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium before Christmas, prior to a narrow 1-0 win on home soil in April - and we're set to do battle with Jonas Eidevall's side early in 2023/24. Arsenal are our first home opponents of the new campaign, in the season's second week, with a showdown at Leigh Sports Village announced as a 12:00 BST kick-off on Sunday 8 October. The return fixture is currently on the calendar for February, and Skinner's Reds will be hoping to leave north London with a similar outcome to the thrilling one achieved last time around, in that high-scoring aforementioned victory.

CHELSEA

Home: 18 May 2024
Away: 21 January 2024

United were narrowly pipped to the title on the last day by the Blues in May, and if the previous campaign is anything to go by, there could be a blockbuster ending in the concluding chapter of 2023/24's league season. The Reds are set to host Chelsea on the final weekend, meaning it'll be the second time in three seasons that the two teams will have met as the curtain comes down on a WSL term. Our two clashes with Emma Hayes's side actually bookend the second half of our schedule, with January's reverse fixture in the capital the first outing in the competition after the winter break for Skinner's team.

LIVERPOOL

Home: 17 December 2023
Away: 5 May 2024

The growing rivalry between the two clubs in the women's game may still be somewhat in its infancy, but in any context, it always means more when United come up against Liverpool. Last season's two meetings - both won by our Reds - were much-anticipated battles and we'll be hoping to come out of them with the upper hand again in 2023/24. We will have to wait until our final game before Christmas to go up against the Merseysiders once more however, while our trip over the M62 will come in the term's final weeks, just as it did in 2022/23. The visit to our old rivals is currently primed for early May, in the penultimate week of the campaign.

MANCHESTER CITY

Home: 19 November 2023
Away: 24 March 2024

The first Manchester derby of 2023/24 will be at home, and is provisionally set for Sunday 19 November. Our most recent meeting with our cross-town neighbours came in the second-to-last round of the previous league schedule, and provided our women's team's first-ever derby triumph in the WSL, following a late Lucia Garcia winner at Leigh Sports Village. The Reds, however, were unlucky not to take all three points from the game at City's home earlier in the campaign, drawing 1-1 at the Etihad despite a promising performance, but will have the opportunity to record an inaugural derby-day victory on the road when we make the short journey to the east side of Manchester next spring.
