Arsenal v United: Fans' predictions so far

Sunday 22 January 2023 09:24

You can have your say on how you think Manchester United's Premier League match against Arsenal will play out, through our very own United Predictions game.

The Reds travel to the Emirates Stadium this afternoon, with kick-off set for 16:30 GMT, and Erik ten Hag’s side will be looking to inflict the Gunners’ first Premier League defeat since we triumphed 3-1 over them at Old Trafford back in September.

Mikel Arteta’s team have been in superb form this campaign, and currently sit at the top of the table.

United, on the other hand, are looking to leapfrog Newcastle into third this weekend, as Erik’s side continue to make progress under the Dutchman.

So far, in our United Predictions game, the majority of our supporters are backing Ten Hag’s men to make another great stride and take all three points from the capital.

A whopping 44 per cent of predictors believe that United will edge the highly anticipated contest by two goals to one, while 76 per cent overall are confident of three points for Ten Hag's side, by any scoreline.

Less than five per cent are sensing victory for the Gunners, with 14 per cent predicting that the spoils will be shared at the Emirates Stadium.

Here are the top five voting percentages for this category:

44% = Arsenal 1 United 2
9% = Arsenal 1 United 3
8% = Arsenal 0 United 2
7% = Arsenal 2 United 3
7% = Arsenal 1 United 1

It’s business as usual in the first scorer category with in-form Marcus Rashford being backed by 48 per cent of predictors to get United’s first goal against Arsenal.

Following his superb goalscoring run, Marcus was unable to get on the scoresheet in midweek against Crystal Palace, but given that he scored twice against Arteta’s team in our victory back in September, he will fancy his chances this time round.

The only other Reds to have attracted double figures in the voting are Wout Weghorst, who made his debut against Palace, and Bruno Fernandes, who has scored in our previous two fixtures.

48% Marcus Rashford
21% = Wout Weghorst
10% = Bruno Fernandes
6% = Antony
2% = Christian Eriksen

Rashford also tops the voting for the player our supporters are backing to be our most influential against Arsenal.

Fernandes attracted the second-highest percentage, while a regular feature on the list, Casemiro, is suspended for this match due to the booking he picked up at Selhurst Park on Wednesday.

David De Gea is also a popular pick, with 12 per cent of supporters backing him to be the difference. David made an incredible 14 saves at the Emirates in our 3-1 win there in 2017, and could prove to be key against the high-flying Gunners this time round.

31% = Marcus Rashford
23% = Bruno Fernandes
12% = De Gea
6% = Christian Eriksen
6% = Lisandro Martinez

De Gea: Ten Hag v Arteta can be the new rivalry

David hopes Erik and Mikel can emulate the same battles Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger once had.
