United Under-21s ready to begin PL2 season

Friday 05 August 2022 12:00

Manchester United Under-21s kick off the Premier League 2 season on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Arsenal.

The young Reds will travel south to the home of Boreham Wood FC where kick-off is scheduled for 13:00 BST.

Due to Premier League regulations, the fixture cannot be shown live on MUTV because it clashes with live TV coverage of a top-flight fixture in the UK - in this case, Fulham v Liverpool.

However, you will be able to get team news plus half-time and full-time summaries in the United App, where match highlights will later be shown.

The Premier League 2 campaign will begin with a trip to Arsenal in August.

The team news will be released one hour before kick-off, at midday BST, and it promises to be an interesting line-up.

Several young Reds who featured in the first team's pre-season matches could be involved, while the side could also include a number of players from last season’s FA Youth Cup-winning squad.
The away match against Arsenal will soon be followed by our Under-21s' first home fixture of the campaign, against Crystal Palace on Friday 12 August (19:00 BST) at Leigh Sports Village.

United finished last season in Premier League 2 Division 1 in sixth place, with 39 points from 26 outings.
