Travis Binnion and Jonny Evans are being joined by Steve Holland and Jonathan Woodgate, as the Reds prepare for Saturday's Manchester derby against City in the Premier League.

TRAVIS BINNION

Travis was part of the team supporting Darren Fletcher for the games against Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion. In addition to coaching the Under-21s, he also oversees player development and has been at the club since 2021.

When in charge of the Under-18s, his team won the FA Youth Cup in 2021/22 in memorable fashion, when a bumper crowd at Old Trafford witnessed a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.

As a player, the 39-year-old was with Sheffield United.

JONNY EVANS

The Northern Irishman retired at the end of last season, bringing the curtain down on a glorious career. After coming through the ranks at his boyhood club, he helped Roy Keane's Sunderland win the Championship during one of two loan spells at the Stadium of Light and went on to make his mark back at Old Trafford.

Three times a Premier League winner, he came on in the FIFA Club World Cup final against LDU Quito in 2008, after Sir Alex Ferguson's side triumphed in the UEFA Champions League during the previous campaign, with the centre-back appearing twice in that competition.

Despite leaving for West Brom, and then lifting the Emirates FA Cup with Leicester City, his story with United had not ended. A surprise return to the club, when his contract expired with the Foxes, led to a short-term deal, which would result in 43 more appearances for the first team. These included coming on as a substitute during the unforgettable FA Cup final win over Manchester City in May, 2024.

A legend for his country, amassing 107 caps, he was kept on in the role of head of loans and pathways and will continue his foray into coaching by working with former-mate Carrick, somebody he played alongside 130 times.

STEVE HOLLAND

New to United, the 55-year-old received an MBE in the 2022 New Year Honours List, for his services to the game.

A highly regarded coach, he was assistant manager to Gareth Southgate when England went all the way to the Euro 2020 final in 2021, losing to Italy on penalties.

After working with the excellent youth system at Crewe Alexandra, he took over the reins in 2007, as first-team coach, and, via a spell with Stoke City, became Chelsea's Reserves manager, winning the league with them in 2011.

Promoted into the senior set-up, he was involved when Roberto Di Matteo's Blues won the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history, in 2012, and worked with ex-Reds manager Jose Mourinho, among others.

Holland even oversaw a Premier League game against Sunderland in 2015 and eventually left Stamford Bridge in 2017, accepting the role of assistant manager to England Under-21s, under Southgate, before they moved to senior level with the Three Lions.

His most recent role was with Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan and he has a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring to the club.

Steve Holland has an outstanding coaching CV.

JONATHAN WOODGATE

Many fans will be familiar with the former England defender, who was part of Carrick's coaching team at Middlesbrough, his first professional club as a schoolboy.

The local lad moved to Leeds United, aged 16, and went on to represent Newcastle United and Spanish giants Real Madrid, before returning to Boro, initially on loan before joining on a permanent basis.

After a switch to Tottenham Hotspur, he scored the winner for the north Londoners in the 2008 League Cup final, against Chelsea, and won eight senior caps for England.

He returned to Middlesbrough again, following a spell with Stoke City, and turned to coaching, upon his retirement. Appointed Middlesbrough manager in 2019, he then worked at Bournemouth, where he became caretaker boss in 2021, taking the Cherries into the Championship play-offs.

CRAIG MAWSON

Craig has been part of the coaching team since 2019, after arriving from Burnley.

He was on the Clarets' books during his playing career but made the most appearances for Morecambe.

The 46-year-old holds a UEFA A goalkeeping diploma and becomes our goalkeeping coach.
