What's it like to be a Floridian fan?

Wednesday 13 April 2022 12:39

Ahead of the highly-anticipated #ILoveUnited - Miami event, which is our first live event in the United States in three years, we caught up with life-long Red, Devin Walker.

Devin is a member of our Miami supporters group, and we wanted to find out what it’s like being a Manchester United fan in Florida.

The event will run from 08:00 to 13:00 EST at Oasis Wynwood and offers fans the chance to connect with the club and experience a United matchday like never before, building up to a live screening of the Premier League match against Norwich City.

It's free to attend and fans can apply for tickets by clicking here. Supporters across the world who are unable to attend in person can register in advance to get a first look at player and legend exclusives ahead of the event.

What’s the fan culture like in Miami?

“The fan culture is extremely diverse in Miami. There are large Caribbean and Hispanic communities, so this creates a very unique football community in the United States.”

What led you to supporting United?

“Dwight Yorke is the reason I’m a United fan. Living in the Caribbean as a child, it was incredible to see somebody from the Caribbean playing alongside the likes of David Beckham. I knew this would be my team, and I don’t regret my team choice at all!”
What are you most looking forward to at ILU Miami?

“I’m looking forward to catching up with Andy Cole again, and finally meeting Diego Forlan! ”

What has been your favourite moment so far this season?

“Flying over to Manchester with my fiancée to watch Ronaldo score a brace on his United return! It was not cheap, but I would do it again in a heartbeat!”

Football or soccer?

“It will always be football, end of discussion!”
