Sesko named Man of the Match
Benjamin Sesko has been named our Man of the Match, following his two goals during the draw at Burnley on Wednesday.
The Slovenian fired past Martin Dubravka twice in the space of 10 minutes, as the Reds recovered from Ayden Heaven's early own goal to briefly lead in east Lancashire.
A victory would have seen us move into fourth place in the Premier League, but Jaidon Anthony's well-struck effort levelled the scoring, and the Reds could not find another goal.
That was despite Sesko's best efforts - our no.30 had seven shots on target across the encounter, which is the most any player has managed in a Premier League game in 2025/26.
Benjamin's brace
📽️ MATCH CLIPS | Benjamin Sesko doubled his United tally with a pair of smart finishes against Burnley...
Interim head coach Darren Fletcher was impressed with Ben's performance against the Clarets, feeling that on another night he could have recorded his first United hat-trick.
"I sat down with him yesterday and showed him videos of his movement, as you said, and how opportunities are going to come if he just keeps believing and keeps making runs," he said.
“The rest of the team needs to look for him as well. Like with all strikers, once you get that first goal, you hit the back of the net, that builds your confidence and, hopefully, they start flooding in now.
“I think everyone can see his qualities, I thought he was fantastic tonight. I thought he led the line really well and he maybe could have gone on to get a hat-trick as well.
“He had a few other opportunities, a header and another snapshot, so it's a real positive night for him definitely.
“Probably the biggest positive of the night really is his two goals so, hopefully, that's good for Manchester United's future.”
Fans seemed to wholeheartedly agree with that assessment too, as Sesko easily won our post-match poll, claiming 77 per cent of the vote.
That's one of the highest tallies of the season, as it's beaten only by the 78 per cent Bryan Mbeumo managed after our 4-2 win over upcoming opponents, Brighton.

Sesko will hope to kick on when we face the Seagulls at Old Trafford in the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday.
