United duo praise 'impactful' squad depth

Sunday 16 April 2023 20:24

Manchester United duo Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes were full of praise for the strength of our squad following a dominant 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday evening.

Erik ten Hag’s men were on the front foot from minute one, but it took until the 76th minute for Dalot to secure all three points with his first Premier League goal.

The togetherness of our current crop of players was emphasised by Diogo’s desire to praise the collective over his own goal-scoring contributions.

Our no.20 told Sky: “It’s always special to score for this club but I’m more happy with the result.”

The Reds move up to third in the Premier League with a deserved win at The City Ground.

“Inside the dressing room, I think we were calm. We knew through this season that we were not only just eleven players [and] we’ve shown this in the past this season.”

Fellow countryman Bruno was influential in the middle of the pitch, earning Sky's Player of the Match award, and was eager to praise the impact of substitutes and players in reserve.

“I think we are one of the teams where the subs have had more impact in games, if not the most impact, with goals and assists,” he said.

“I think everyone was ready and we dealt really well with the situation.”

Despite his masterclass, the midfield maestro was unable to get his name on the scoresheet, finding Keylor Navas in inspired form.

He added: “The result is the most important thing for me. I want to get points because we want to be in the Champions League next season.

Erik was a happy man after our impressive win, and reserved special praise for Eriksen and Fernandes...

“I want to get my goals but the team comes always first.”

Dalot went on the highlight the performance of Brazilian winger Antony, stating that his 'hard work is paying off' after being involved in both goals against Forest.

Victory at The City Ground moves us from 4th to 3rd in the table as we continue our push to secure Champions League football for the 2023/24 campaign.
