Bruno aware of Reds responsibility

Bruno Fernandes is aware of the huge responsibility Manchester United’s players have when it comes to making the club’s fans happy.

While it may not have been a vintage season so far, the captain appreciates the resolute support that has been shown to him and his team-mates, both home and away.

That backing was rewarded in our previous outing, the comeback victory over Brentford, and Bruno now hopes that the confidence boost that came from that memorable afternoon can grow into something more sustained in terms of results.

“I think everyone now understands that that moment was really big for us,” Fernandes said, in a chat with club legend Wes Brown.

Bruno Fernandes chats with ex-Red Wes Brown about the weight of the United captaincy and his ambitions for the season...

“The boost of confidence, as I said before, but we all know it's normal as fans that sometimes you can get frustrated by the result, by the team, whatever it is.

“But it's up to us players to make them happy, to make them enjoy our game, to make them go in to work the next day and be happy because their team won.

“We understand when it's not going their way, but I think overall the fans are always behind us, supporting us all through.”

Fernandes will receive that same backing from the travelling Reds in Yorkshire this evening (Saturday) at Bramall Lane, as United aim for back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

The Portuguese midfielder wants things to be a little more comfortable than last time out, though.

“We've seen away games, home games for when they give that kind of push, that kind of support, we get the results even when it's at the end of the game,” he added.

Fernandes gives a fascinating insight into life in the dressing room and on the pitch, as he recalls our Brentford win.

“As everyone knows here at United, ‘Fergie Time’ is always on, so I think the fans have a feeling from last season that we could do that and I think this season we showed again that we can do it, but obviously we want to win the games as soon as possible and not leave it until the last minute.

“But if we have to and if you have to win that way, we are going to win.”
