Bruno Fernandes received his February Player-of-the-Month award at the Aon Training Complex on Wednesday morning.

Our Portuguese playmaker was presented with the trophy by team-mate Juan Mata, after winning our biggest-ever poll in terms of votes, at the weekend.

Fernandes gained 80 per cent of your nominations on our Offical App, to cap a superb first month with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, since signing from Sporting Lisbon in January.

The 25-year-old’s start to life in M16 has seen him receive praise from several club legends, including Ryan Giggs, who believes he’s immediately improved the team.

"He's a fantastic player,” our record appearance-maker told Sky Sports News. “He's lifted the place, he has lifted everyone around him and it's still early days. I still think he can get even better.

Juan Mata presented Fernandes with his award.

“He's hit the ground running which is what you want - especially [after] signing in the January transfer window [because] it doesn't always happen.

“But he's fantastic and I'm pleased to see him doing so well."

Last Thursday, Paul Scholes also praised Fernandes, highlighting that the supporters had already taken him to their hearts.

“He looks a special talent and looks like he can be a hero of the fans as well,” Scholes said.

“He has got the right name for it, with the song and stuff.

“But then you think of Eric Cantona and Wayne Rooney, these people who are idolised by the fans, and you hope that, in the future, he can become as good as them.”

Solskjaer also commented on Bruno’s rapid integration into the side during today’s press conference to preview the FA Cup tie with Derby County.

“No I'm not surprised, because I saw what he could do on the pitch and I saw his leadership qualities and we did our due diligence and spoke to people who knew his personality, but you hoped he would have this influence.

“He loves being around the place and he's given everyone a boost and he's just come in with that aura about him that we need in players.”
