Team news for Derby FA Cup tie
Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are likely to miss out on Manchester United’s trip to Derby County in the Emirates FA Cup fifth round on Thursday.
James was also absent for Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Everton, having picked up a knock in the win over Club Brugge, while Wan-Bissaka, who played the full 90 minutes against the Toffees, has obtained a back problem.
Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford remain on the sidelines for our visit to Pride Park, although the former is due back in training next week after surgery.
“Yeah [James will] probably miss out on this one as well and Marcus and Paul are still out and I think Aaron might be struggling,” Ole told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
“He's got a test today, but he struggled in our last game against Everton with his back, so he might be out.
"Paul's still working with the physios outside and he won't be training with the first team until next week. So then let's see how long that will take, but he'll need some time to train to get his football fitness back."
Sergio Romero has played in 12 of United’s 16 cup fixtures so far this season, but Ole said it’s not a given he’ll feature over David De Gea tomorrow.
“Well it’s not a given [that he’ll play], of course, but Sergio has done well in the games he has played, definitely.
“But I have no qualms about playing David in every game to be fair, because what he's done and his performances they've been great.”
Defenders Axel Tuanzebe and Tim Fosu-Mensah may come into Solskjaer’s thinking for the game, having successfully navigated the Under-23s’ 3-2 win over Stoke City on Monday night.
The pair featured for Neil Wood’s outfit as they continue their recoveries from injury, with Fosu-Mensah having been out for almost a year and Tuanzebe absent since December.
Goalkeeper Lee Grant, who spent 11 years with the Rams across two different spells, will miss out on a reunion with his former club.
The 37-year-old had surgery in February and will be on the sidelines for two or three months.
DERBY TEAM NEWS
Former Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone is still unavailable after a calf injury. He has joined in with the main group in training, but manager Philip Cocu says he will need more time to regain match fitness. Youngsters Louie Sibley and Morgan Whittaker are in the squad for the match, having not travelled to Austria with County's Under-19s for the UEFA Youth League tie against Red Bull Salzburg.
United legend Wayne Rooney looks certain to start for the hosts in midfield and another ex-Red, Tom Lawrence, should be in attack.
