Bruno: I want to be here for many years

Bruno Fernandes has been at Manchester United since January 2020, and it’s safe to say he’s had a big impact at the club.

Following two impressive seasons with the Reds, the Portuguese maestro was handed the no.8 shirt this season, following the departure of Juan Mata, and he appears to be going from strength to strength under new boss Erik ten Hag.

The midfielder seems at home in Manchester, and in an exclusive interview with club media, the 28-year-old revealed that his desire was always to play for the Reds.

“Being a kid in Portugal, watching the Premier League and watching the club, it was always a dream to come to the Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford, and to experience that,” said Bruno.

Since his Old Trafford debut in February 2020 against Wolves, Bruno has established himself as a fan favourite, being trusted by former United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and now Ten Hag.

Such is his manager’s backing, Fernandes has also been handed the captain’s armband on many occasions this term, and appears to be relishing the responsibility.

The midfielder feels he has found “stability” in Manchester, and at United.

He told us: “I want to be here for many years. I want to have some stability for my family.

“We like to be here, we like to be in this country, we want to have the family established here and the kids growing up here, having their friends, being happy. That’s the most important thing for us.”

Indeed, Bruno’s intentions will be music to the ears of United fans, who have enjoyed seeing the Portugal international develop into a leader at the club.
