Bruno sets new United record

Saturday 09 December 2023 10:00

Bruno Fernandes has set a Manchester United record for the most chances created in a calendar year.

Our no.8 has so far - with five games left to go in 2023 - produced a whopping 120 chances for his fellow United team-mates, surpassing the previous record held by Ryan Giggs (100) across a twelve-month period.

In total, the Portugal international has 16 goals and 15 assists this year, with Erik ten Hag's side still set to face Bournemouth, Liverpool, West Ham, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest before 2024 swings around.

Influential as ever, Fernandes is still yet to miss a Premier League game for the Reds, following his transfer from Sporting Lisbon back in January 2020.

According to Opta, Bruno also created a whopping 95 chances in 2021, equalling both Nani and Giggs' tallies from 2011 and 2007 respectively.

But it is his total of 120 chances that sets him apart from the rest as we near the end of the current calendar year.

It is also worth noting that our no.8 leads the way in terms of chances created across the Premier League's best players too.

His total of 120 sees him ahead of the likes of Kieran Trippier, Pascal Groß and Bukayo Saka in the standings, further backing up his capabilities.

Bruno will be hoping to further to add to his tally, no doubt, as United take on the Cherries at Old Trafford later today (15:00 GMT).
