Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes starred once more for Portugal on Monday, as the Selecao eclipsed Bosnia and Herzegovina 5-0 in a Euro 2024 qualifier.

Roberto Martinez's side had already qualified for Euro 2024, but were no less fierce, taking the lead after just five minutes through a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty.

Ronaldo added his second 15 minutes later, chipping Joao Felix's intricate pass over Ibrahim Sehic to double the lead.

Mere moments after the second goal, Fernandes made it three by controlling Goncalo Inacio's through ball with his chest before hitting an unstoppable volley into the top corner from inside the box.

The United captain then turned provider for a sublime Joao Cancelo finish, cutting it to the edge of the box for the Barcelona man to curl into the top corner.

Cancelo's club team-mate Joao Felix made it five with a well-taken goal on the stroke of half-time, and the 2016 winners were in cruise control.

The second half was less pulsating, as the visitors controlled possession and eased their foot off the accelerator somewhat. Bruno was replaced after 79 minutes.

As well as Bruno's brilliance, his club team-mate Dalot was crucial to Portugal's clean sheet was a constant danger down the right-hand side.

“Bruno Fernandes is a very good professional, a player who has seven assists, an intelligent player, who adapts to the qualities of his teammates, who gives a lot of tactical flexibility. Bruno Fernandes is a dream for a coach!" said Portugal boss Roberto Martinez after the game.

"He needs training to understand the idea of the game and has a high level of execution. Technically he has a vision of the game that I think is of superlative quality and I really like his work. He’s adapted to many positions, he gives structure, he gives balance, he’s a key player for us.”
