Fernandes tops another stats chart

Bruno Fernandes has played more minutes since lockdown than any other Euro 2020 participant, with a Manchester United colleague in second place.

A report by the CIES Football Observatory reveals that our Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year has appeared in 81 matches for the Reds and Portugal since 16 May 2020.

This puts him out on top and also his time on the pitch outscores everybody else, with Harry Maguire in second spot. Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was with AC Milan last season, is next, with Manchester City defender Ruben Dias in fourth place.

Bruno's involvement in 81 matches in this timeframe is phenomenal, and indicative of his desire to always play, as he approaches Portugal's Euro 2020 opener with Hungary at 17:00 BST on Tuesday.

The midfielder, who scored twice in the final warm-up game against Israel last week, beats the likes of Chelsea youngster Mason Mount (76), Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann (75) and Manchester City's Rodri (75) in this area.

In addition to Fernandes and Maguire being at the top of the minutes list, there is another Red who features highly after his sterling efforts for club and country.

Sweden centre-back Victor Lindelof, whose tournament gets under way against Spain tonight (Monday) is ranked 20th, 13th for outfield players, on 5,708 minutes. Marcus Rashford is not far behind on 5,498.
