Fernandes voted Premier League Player of the Month

Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has been voted the Premier League's Player of the Month for November 2020.

It’s the third time the Portuguese international has collected the prize - which sees him equal a top-flight record - and he saw off competition from five Premier League counterparts to win the award.

Ben Chilwell, Jack Grealish, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Angelo Ogbonna and James Ward-Prowse were also nominated, but Fernandes takes the accolade after a public vote, which was combined with the selections of the league’s 20 captains and a panel of football experts to determine the winner.

“It means a lot, of course,” he told club media, upon receiving the prize. “I think it’s always good for an individual player, this award. Of course, for me, the most important is the team.”

Bruno first won the award in February 2020 after an outstanding start to life at Old Trafford, before subsequently claiming it in June as well, after Project Restart. It means our no.18 has now won Player of the Month in three of the last six months.

Despite the Portugal international's continued success, Bruno is targeting more triumphs for the Reds in the months to come.

“Yes, I am happy - not enough, but I am happy because, for me, the most important thing is winning,” he said. “We had a loss [in November, to Arsenal] and for me it’s not enough because I want to win every game.
“To be really happy, I have to have a full month with winning the games and with full performances.

“It’s really important for me to keep doing well because more important than everyone talking is me. If I’m happy with my performances and what I am doing, I will be top in the country and the club.”

The 26-year-old’s award-winning November began on something of a flat note after we suffered a 1-0 loss to Arsenal, but Bruno followed that up with a Man-of-the-Match showing against Everton, where two goals guided us towards a 3-1 victory at Goodison Park.
The former Sporting Lisbon star then led the Reds to a 1-0 home win over West Bromwich Albion, where his 56th-minute penalty proved to be the only strike of the game.

Eight days later and Fernandes finished off the month by inspiring United to a second-half comeback against Southampton. He grabbed our first of the afternoon, before setting up Edinson Cavani’s equaliser in the 3-2 win at St Mary’s.

From everyone at Manchester United, congratulations Bruno on yet another award!
