Bruno Fernandes has won the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award for September.

Our captain’s expert volley at Turf Moor, just before half-time, was enough to secure a priceless three points for Manchester United against Burnley last month.

And the effort, ably assisted by Jonny Evans’s laser-accurate pass, came out on top of the fan poll – seeing off competition from the likes of Julian Alvarez and Leandro Trossard.

Watch the breathtaking effort in all its glory – and from every available angle – below.

Bruno’s team-mate Hannibal had also been nominated, for his maiden senior Reds strike during the 3-1 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

But it was Fernandes who came out on top to complete an awards double, after also claiming the club’s Goal of the Month prize with his second effort of the season, following a penalty against Nottingham Forest back in August.

It’s the third time Fernandes has won the Premier League’s Goal of the Month trophy since its introduction in August 2016 and he joins Andros Townsend in being one of only two players to complete a trio of victories.

Bruno first claimed Goal of the Month in June 2020, after the season was extended due to Covid, for another volley. This time he struck at Brighton in a 3-0 victory.

Eight months later, the Portuguese midfielder was recognised again, for his curled strike which found the top corner against Everton at Old Trafford.

That strike was later voted United’s Goal of the Season for 2020/21 and, although there is still plenty of the current campaign left to play, this effort in east Lancashire could be a contender for the prize in 2023/24.
