Mbeumo: We got the reward
Bryan Mbeumo revealed his delight in clinching his first goal at Old Trafford for Manchester United in our 3-2 win over Burnley.
The 26-year-old opened his Reds account away at Grimsby earlier in the week, and added to his tally with a 57th-minute strike to re-establish United's lead.
Following Jaidon Anthony's equaliser, it fell to Bruno Fernandes from the spot to clinch the three points, but that's to take nothing away from the all-action display put together by the Cameroon international.
He feels he now has the perfect base to kick on from after the international break.
Mbeumo: I'm really happy to score at OT!
Bryan Mbeumo reacts to scoring his first Old Trafford goal for United, after an "important" win over Burnley...
"Yeah, I feel very good," Mbeumo told MUTV. "I think today was really important that we could win, and yeah, obviously I'm really happy to score my first goal here.
"We kept going in the game and, at the end, we got the reward."
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, he added: "I'm very happy, and we win as well – as a striker, it is important to be confident with goals.
"We are all a team, it is not only one person. We all worked very hard for the win today."
Despite Mbeumo being keen to highlight the team's showing, head coach Ruben Amorim was quick to praise our no.19 in his post-match press conference.
"It was impressive the way he stretched the team," the boss said of his attacker. "The quality that he has in the first touch, and you feel that we are a different team because when we win the ball, we have one guy stretching the team."
The Reds now have a two-week break to allow for international fixtures, before returning to tough assignments against Manchester City and Chelsea, which Mbeumo admits makes the Burnley win all the more crucial.
Speaking to MUTV, he concluded: "It's really important. It gives us a lot of confidence and a bit of a breather before the international break."
