Mbeumo earns two monthly awards
Bryan Mbeumo has been named Manchester United's Player of the Month for August, awarded in association with Tiger.
The classy forward, currently away on international duty with Cameroon, beat off competition from fellow nominees Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt to earn the trophy.
With supporters voting in their thousands in the United App, it is clear the former Brentford man has already impressed sufficiently to be taken into the hearts of the Reds' faithful.
Furthermore, his maiden Premier League strike, against Burnley, was voted our first Goal of the Month of the new season.
After a bright competitive debut, in the unlucky loss to Arsenal, he supplied the corner at Fulham that was headed by Yoro, only for it to deflect and go in off Rodrigo Muniz, to be awarded as an own goal and deny Mbeumo the assist.
He scored his first goal for the club to start the ultimately unsuccessful comeback at Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup, with a fine solo effort in the 2-2 draw.
Although it was his second penalty that ended the lengthy shootout, when crashing off the underside of the bar, this could not detract from his contribution to his early days as a Red.
In our last outing, Ruben Amorim's side overcame Burnley 3-2 in an entertaining encounter at Old Trafford.
Mbeumo was outstanding throughout, winning our Man of the Match award, with his goal coming when he converted Diogo Dalot's intelligent cutback to regain the lead at 2-1.
There were other moments of top quality displayed by the 26-year-old, including an incredible first touch to a Bruno Fernandes pass that led to a thumping shot that was beaten away by Martin Dubravka in the Burnley goal.
Mbeumo registered 54 per cent in our poll, with Yoro in second place (29%) and fellow defender De Ligt third (17%).
Our African attacker also scooped the Goal of the Month prize with his effort against Burnley gaining almost half of the vote, and his other strike, at Grimsby, was runner-up.Congratulations to Bryan, let's hope it continues!
