Why it was a special night for Robson and Skinner
Manchester United icon Bryan Robson and women’s team manager Marc Skinner were celebrated at the North-West Football Awards on Monday night.
Robson, our former captain and no.7, received the prestigious Lifetime Contribution Award in recognition of his services to football, both as a player and manager.
Still known affectionately as ‘Captain Marvel’ to fans around the world, the 68-year-old legend collected his prize on stage at the Manchester Deansgate Hotel.
United Women boss Skinner was named the Matt Beard Women's Manager of the Season in recognition of our third-placed finish in the Women’s Super League.
The prize was recently named in honour of Beard, the former Liverpool Women manager who died at the age 47 in September. His brother Mark presented the trophy on Monday night.
Marc’s Reds have made a phenomenal start to this campaign by winning five and drawing two of the opening seven WSL fixtures.
United Women have also progressed through the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase and made a perfect start to the league phase, registering wins over Valerenga and Atletico Madrid.
Skinner’s squad will host French giants Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford on Wednesday 12 November and tickets for the occasion are available to buy online.
Congratulations to Bryan and Marc on your richly deserved awards.
