Who is Robbo's ideal team-mate?
Bryan Robson says that if he could play with any of the current Manchester United squad, it would be Casemiro.
Robbo is a guest on the latest episode of Inside Carrington, alongside daughter Claire, who heads up our player-support team.
At the end of the chat, our legendary former captain was asked which of the current crop he’d have picked for the teams he was part of, during the 1980s and 1990s.
It would no doubt be a combative, but technically excellent midfield partnership, and Robbo has explained his choice: “He's got a great football brain, he's tough, he's good in the air and a great passer of the ball.
Inside Carrington: Bryan and Claire Robson
INSIDE CARRINGTON | United legend Bryan Robson is joined by daughter Claire, who heads up our player-care team…
“He knows the game - that's why he was at Real Madrid and why he won as much as he did at Real Madrid.
“I wish he was five years younger playing for this club.”
Another top midfielder in Michael Carrick is, of course, currently in charge at United and has helped us rise to third in the Premier League table since being appointed head coach in January.
The pair share a north-east heritage and, despite our defeat on Tyneside earlier this week, Robbo believes we’re on the right track.
He added that a back-to-basics approach looks to be paying dividends.
"Michael’s done great, because at United, when he’s been interim manager, he’s had eight wins and two draws [before Newcastle away].
"When you look at the last time he was here [in 2021], he beat Villarreal away in Europe, came back and drew with Chelsea, at Chelsea, who were flying at the time. Then he beat Arsenal at Old Trafford and we all see what he’s doing now.
"He’s doing it quite simply, but that’s because he’s got a great football brain. He went back to a back four, because the back three wasn’t suiting the boys. He put Luke [Shaw] back to left-back, which is his favourite position. Kobbie [Mainoo]’s come back into midfield – a young lad with great ability. He was only out of the team because he got a bit rusty with injury.
"The balance of the team is back and the results show that. So Michael’s done a great job, so far, and I hope he keeps doing it this season. I hope he achieves the task of getting us into the Champions League, but he’s doing great at the moment."
