Robson excited by Legends of the North clash
Manchester United fans’ favourite Bryan Robson will return to the Theatre of Dreams to manage a team of club greats in the Legends of the North clash against Liverpool at Old Trafford on 21 May.
The man affectionately remembered as Captain Marvel recorded an impressive 461 appearances for United during his 13 years at the club, scoring one shy of a ton of goals.
Talking ahead of the Legends match, Bryan said: “It’s always exciting playing against Liverpool; even in Legends games, that rivalry is still there. But it is also about raising money for Manchester United Foundation, which really helps to encourage and educate young people in communities across Greater Manchester.”
When talking about Robson and Liverpool, fans of a certain vintage will no doubt think of the former no.7’s thunderous strike in the 1985 FA Cup semi-final replay. Described by Bryan as “probably the best goal I scored in my career”, the rocket helped secure a place in the final against another Merseyside team in Everton, with Robbo getting his hands on the trophy for the second time.

United and Liverpool is a game that will always quicken the pulse and Bryan will be the perfect man to have at the helm for this one, having played against the Merseysiders 27 times during his career, netting seven goals for good measure.
He also had a knack of recording good results against them during his time as a manager, achieving five wins and three draws from 13 matches played during his time as Middlesbrough boss.
Since then, Bryan also racked up wins in some of our other recent Legends matches against giants of the game including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
