Manchester United’s Women’s Super League campaign gets underway next weekend with Reading the visitors to Leigh Sports Village on Friday (3 September).

Along with being our campaign opener, and the competition’s inaugural game of the 2021/22 season, the match (KO 19:45 BST) will also be the first of Marc Skinner’s competitive reign in charge of the women’s team.

It will also be the first home fixture in which supporters can attend and watch from the stands since before the pandemic, and your sole opportunity to watch United live this weekend with our other sides not in action due to the international break.

The new Women's head coach has revealed how the first-team staff have welcomed him and how they'll work to share ideas.

In his first interview as the new United Women’s head coach earlier this month, Marc Skinner spoke about the part the supporters will play from the stands towards any potential success for the Reds on the pitch this season.

“We're going to need them in every way,” he told MUTV. “There are going to be moments when we are not going to be on top form, but we need to win, so you hope that they will drag you with them and give us that extra breath when we need it. They’ll be the most important thing.

“For the players, I know they talk highly of the fans, but for us, they are part of us, and we talk about the twelfth player, they’re in the squad.

“So, we've got a big squad going to these games and playing so I can’t wait to invite them in."
