Captain Maguire supports young Reds at Carrington

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire spent his Thursday lunchtime watching the club's Under-18s in action against Middlesbrough.

The skipper was treated to a thrilling first half of football as the two sides combined to produce an end-to-end game with five goals, two penalties and a red card.

Maguire is a regular supporter of United's young prospects. He was recently in attendance at the Under-19s' UEFA Youth League match against Villarreal at Leigh Sports Village.

This time, Maguire joined those watching on as Travis Binnion's Under-18s side took on Middlesbrough in the U18 Premier League at Carrington, as he shared on Instagram.

Manni Norkett scored United's second goal in an entertaining 3-3 draw.

“It's had 90 minutes of action squeezed into the first 25, really,” said the commentary team on MUTV.

After Middlesbrough took a two-goal lead, Sam Murray got United back into the game, finishing off a smart move that begun on the right wing. The visitors soon regained their two-goal advantage, only to be pegged back once more as Manni Norkett emphatically converted a 28th-minute penalty.

Attacking against 10 men, United finally drew the game level in the second half when Kobbie Mainoo made it 3-3 in the 81st minute.

The Reds next play in the U18 Premier League Cup on Saturday, 16 October against Wolves.
