United's next Carabao Cup opponent revealed
Manchester United will face Leicester City at Old Trafford in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup next month.
The fixtures, drawn following the conclusion of the third-round tie between Liverpool and West Ham United, will be played in the week commencing 28 October.
It will be the first time we've faced the Foxes since February 2023, when the Reds were 3-0 winners at the Theatre of Dreams in the Premier League.
We take our place in the fourth round of the competition thanks to our convincing 7-0 triumph over Barnsley in the previous round at Old Trafford.
The Tykes' visit to the Theatre of Dreams saw goals from Marcus Rashford (two), Antony, Alejandro Garnacho (two) and Christian Eriksen (two) to send us through in emphatic style.
It was also goalkeeper Altay Bayindir's first United start at Old Trafford – having made his debut against Newport County in the FA Cup last year – and he marked the occasion with a clean sheet last time out.
That game was also the occasion of Manuel Ugarte's first full start for the Reds.
"I think he was good," Ten Hag said of the Uruguayan after the Barnsley game. "Also for him, in the first minutes, you have to find your position and, as a team, you have to find the right shape. Once we got it, then you see his level and he can really strengthen the squad and the team."
United are on the hunt for a seventh title in this competition, having last lifted the trophy in 2022/23 – Ten Hag's first season with the club.
At this stage in that campaign, back in December 2022, we met Burnley at Old Trafford, running out 2-0 winners courtesy of two of those who notched braces against Barnsley in the last round: Eriksen and Rashford.
They will hope to be just as influential next month for our fourth-round meeting, as we hunt down the manager's third trophy in three successive seasons.
