Casemiro named in FIFPRO Team of the Year
Fresh from celebrating Manchester United’s Carabao Cup triumph, Casemiro has been selected in FIFPRO’s World 11.
The team is chosen from a shortlist of 26 players, and our Brazilian midfield general has made the cut following his impressive 2022.
The World 11 is voted for by the players, based on performances between 8 August 2021 to 18 December 2022, and was revealed on Monday 27 February at FIFA's ceremony.
Since arriving at United, our no.18 has had a monumental impact on Erik ten Hag’s side, and after the turn of the year he has continued to impress - although these performances won't have been factored into the voting for the World 11.
Casemiro may be lauded for his defensive capabilities, but he’s also shown his quality in front of goal for the Reds – netting the first goal in our recent Carabao Cup final triumph and well as getting on the scoresheet in other important matches for us.
A passionate competitor, Casemiro still has plenty to offer at the highest level, as his inclusion in the World 11 shows, and this accolade is yet another for the Brazilian to add to his illustrious collection.
