Obi: I do extra work with the finishing coach
Chido Obi wheeling away to celebrate is a sight that watchers of academy football have become accustomed to.
Denmark youth international joined United this season from Arsenal and has broken records at Academy level, demonstrating his eye for goal.
Friday's brace against Hong Kong, China is hardly surprising, then.
Chido was handed his senior debut for the Reds at Tottenham Hotspur in February and had been limited largely to cameos off the bench for the Reds in the second half of 2024/25.
The 17-year-old was introduced as a half-time substitute at the Hong Kong Stadium on Friday and netted his first two senior goals for United to turn the game on its head.
Obi: It's a big moment for me
Chido explains how extra work on the training pitch helped him score his first senior goals for United in Hong Kong...
Obi spoke to MUTV after the eventual 3-1 victory, explaining how he will cherish that moment - and continually strive to improve.
"It is a big moment because I have been waiting a long time for this moment," he said.
"Every time I get the opportunity I stay out with the finishing coach to do extra.
"The fans here are amazing. They welcomed us and cheered us for the whole game."
Our supporters appreciated the teenager's contributions too, with Chido accumulating 85 per cent of our Man of the Match vote after the win in Hong Kong.
The upcoming agenda for Obi and his team-mates, after our post-season tour concluded, will be rest and recovery before we begin to look towards 2025/26.
