Injury update on Eriksen and Hojlund

Manchester United has issued an injury update on Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund, following their withdrawal from Denmark's squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Both were flagged as doubts for their international duties by Erik ten Hag, following our 1-0 win over Luton Town on Saturday, when the manager was keeping his fingers crossed that they would not be out for too long.

Eriksen made way for Mason Mount in the first half at Old Trafford, while Hojlund initially continued playing after receiving treatment late on. The striker was then replaced by Anthony Martial in the final moments of a victory that leaves the Reds in sixth place in the Premier League table heading into this latest break.

Christian has a knee injury that is set to keep him out for around a month, while striker Rasmus suffered a muscle strain. It is hoped he will return before the end of November.

Rasmus strained a muscle during Saturday's win over Luton.

United's next assignment is away to Everton on Sunday 26 November (16:30 GMT kick-off), before a crunch trip to Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League.

Ten Hag's squad has recently been missing a few injured absentees, including Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Jonny Evans, Casemiro and Amad, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka was not involved against Luton due to illness.

Denmark would much rather have had Eriksen and Hojlund available of course, as they look to clinch a place at next summer's European Championship finals in Germany. Kasper Hjulmand's side are assured of at least a play-off spot but currently sit below Group H leaders Slovenia, with both on 19 points.

A vital tie takes place at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, where United were in UEFA Champions League action last week, with Slovenia providing the opposition on Friday 17 November.

On the following Monday, the Danes are in Belfast to face Northern Ireland, who will be without Evans, after confirmation the Reds centre-back has suffered a thigh strain.

Hjulmand has called Napoli midfielder Jesper Lindstrom and Trabzonspor's Jens Stryger Larsen into his squad as replacements.
