Eriksen and Lindelof praise 'important' Rashford amid recent form

Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof have lauded the form of team-mate Marcus Rashford, who added yet another goal and assist to his tallies for the season in the Reds' recent win against Nottingham Forest.

Since returning from the World Cup, where he finished England’s joint-top scorer with three goals, Rashford opened the scoring against Forest in the first half, curling Eriksen's clever corner beyond the helpless Wayne Hennessey.

This goal added to Marcus's amazing solo effort against Burnley in the Carabao Cup on the 21 December, as United’s number 10 grabbed the headlines against the Clarets in the first match back after the winter break.

Amid Rashford's recent form, both Eriksen and fellow Red Lindelof have described the attacker as “a very important player” for Erik ten Hag’s side, predicting that he will go on to score many more goals in the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

“He’s very confident.” said Eriksen in an exclusive interview with club media. “You can see that in the games, he is looking sharp and really on it. He looks like he is going to create something or he’s going to score something every time.

"And I think the same [against Burnley]. I think some of the players or some of the time, you would not try and go and dribble between three guys and hope what happens. But he’s in a mood and in a place where he can do that.

"Hopefully, he can continue what he is doing and take us further."

Lindelof added further praise for Rashford, citing his confidence as a key asset which makes him a threat for any defender.

“He is a fantastic player.” said Victor. “When he plays with the confidence like this, it makes it even more difficult to defend against him.

"But he has been in great form, and I think he performed great at the World Cup as well. Hopefully he can just keep going and score some more goals for us because he is very important for us as a team.”
