Eriksen: We didn’t take our chances

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has rued our missed chances in the 3-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag’s men created openings aplenty at home, but were not clinical enough in front of goal to avoid a second successive league defeat.

“I think we had enough chances to come back [from behind], we just didn’t take them,” the midfielder told MUTV after full-time.

“It has been like [the story of] the season so far. I think if we change that, a lot of the games would be a lot easier to play.”

Christian Eriksen gives his thoughts on a challenging afternoon for United, after the 3-1 loss to Brighton…

The Reds showed real promise in the opening 20 minutes, before ex-Red Danny Welbeck’s opener, which Eriksen believes caught the Seagulls off guard to begin with.

“I think we started very strong,” he continued. “We were very front footed and I think we surprised them a bit with our game-plan.

“I think we lost a bit of momentum [after the first goal]. I thought we had it back with a goal just before half-time [from Rasmus Hojlund, that was ruled out for the ball being adjudged to have crossed the line beforehand] but we didn’t have that luck, or the clinical [edge] to get back.”
A positive to take from the day was the involvement of Hannibal who, from the bench, scored our only goal of the game and in spectacular fashion.

“I am very happy for him,” Eriksen told us. “He is a very good guy and he works very hard on the pitch, as you see on the pitch.

“He deserved it and it is unlucky that he gets his goal in a loss - if we won, it would have been a different feeling for him and everyone else.”
