Former goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro passes away

Manchester United is saddened to learn our former goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro has passed away at the age of 67.

The Portuguese joined the club in 2016 after the appointment of Jose Mourinho.

Silvino had previously worked closely with our former manager at Chelsea, Real Madrid, Internazionale and Porto.

Louro pictured with his goalkeeping group after the 2017 Europa League final.

In nearly three seasons at United, Louro oversaw a tight-knit goalkeeping group that included David De Gea, Sergio Romero, Sam Johnstone and Joel Pereira.

The former Benfica stopper was notably part of a Reds squad that lifted three trophies in 2016/17 - the FA Community Shield, League Cup and UEFA Europa League.

Our thoughts are with Silvino’s family and friends at this difficult time.
