The Spanish goalkeeper drew level with the late Joe Spence in the 3-0 Premier League win on Wednesday evening, before making the position his own in Friday’s Emirates FA Cup tie.

De Gea now has 511 appearances to his name and that is a magnificent achievement, particularly when you consider the elite group of players he has joined in the top 10 (see below).

MOVING ON UP

As stated, De Gea is now outright 10th on United’s all-time appearances chart and he is now only 18 matches away from the great Denis Irwin in ninth. 

At the age of 32, David is hopeful that he can keep climbing:

“It is a huge honour to be in the top 10 appearances for this club,” he admitted this week. “It’s something crazy. I am feeling really well. So let’s see if I can reach the top ones and keep enjoying and keep playing well and helping the team.”
