Rashford wins December’s Goal of the Month
Marcus Rashford’s sublime solo run and strike against Burnley has been voted as Manchester United’s Goal of the Month for December.
Rashford’s individual brilliance made it 2-0 on the night, as the Reds marched into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, following his goalscoring exploits with England at the World Cup in Qatar.
With the score already at 1-0, thanks to Christian Eriksen’s first-half finish from a beautifully worked opening goal involving Bruno Fernandes and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus picked up the ball at halfway, shortly after the half-time break.
Rashford powered down the right beyond several Burnley defenders, before being met with a wall of opposition players on the edge of the box.
The attacker, who is full of confidence at present, jinked his way through the defence and arrowed an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner, sealing the win for the Reds.
The goal, which was Rashford’s fourth goal in consecutive matches at Old Trafford – he made this five just six days later when he scored against Nottingham Forest – was truly a sight to behold.
Such was the talent on display, Marcus’s goal against the Clarets is a worthy winner of the monthly award, receiving 56 per cent of our fan vote.
Erik ten Hag said before our last home match of 2022 against Forest that he hoped Rashford would score 20 goals this season. He is certainly on his way to doing so, with superb strikes like the one against Burnley.
Well done, Marcus, and thank you to everyone who voted.
