Confirmed: United XI to face Brentford

Wednesday 19 January 2022 19:00

Ralf Rangnick has named his Manchester United starting XI to face Brentford at the Community Stadium in West London.

The Reds are making the trip to the Bees for the first time in 75 years, looking to build on the weekend’s away draw at Aston Villa.

United played well for much of our 2-2 stalemate, and will no doubt use the disappointment at conceding a late equaliser as motivation for tonight’s 20:00 GMT kick-off.

Scott McTominay comes back into the team after a one-game suspension, while Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo are available again after minor injuries, and the latter starts up front.

There are only two changes to the team that took on Villa, with McTominay and Ronaldo coming in for Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic.

Club captain Harry Maguire does not feature in the starting line-up but is on the bench as he makes his way back from a rib injury. Victor Lindelof is partnered by Raphael Varane in central defence.

Young winger Anthony Elanga keeps his place in the team after an encouraging display at the weekend.
