Thursday 17 December 2020 12:19

Cristiano Ronaldo scored 118 goals for Manchester United during six brilliant seasons as a Red, but which are his best goals for the club?

The Portuguese joined the club from Sporting in 2003 and was meant to return there on loan straightaway, to continue his education, but he wanted to prove himself at Old Trafford and boldly chose the iconic no.7 shirt.

After a brilliant debut as a substitute against Bolton Wanderers, it was clear Sir Alex Ferguson had signed a prodigious talent and, of course, Ronaldo became one of the greatest players in our storied history.

We have compiled a list of his 10 greatest goals and it was far from easy, as you would expect, but the countdown is unquestionably an impressive watch.

10: United 4 Aston Villa 0 | 29 March 2008

9: United 4 Dynamo Kiev 0 | 7 November 2007
Patrice Evra’s intelligent pass provided Ronaldo with a chance to shine that he didn’t waste, cutting inside from the left to unleash a devastating finish in this UEFA Champions League victory.

8: Sunderland 0 United 4 | 26 December 2007
This sensational free-kick at the Stadium of Light provided a late Christmas present for Reds supporters on Boxing Day, leaving the Black Cats goalkeeper stood still in utter disbelief.
7: Roma 0 United 2 | 1 April 2008
When Paul Scholes chipped a weighted cross into the box, he knew Cristiano was sprinting in and the Portuguese didn’t disappoint by heading home a classic goal from a stunning height.

6: Fulham 1 United 2 | 24 February 2007
This is the goal that arguably marked Ronaldo’s transition from exciting prospect to inspirational talisman, with a superb individual effort that was pivotal to winning the Premier League that season.

5: Arsenal 1 United 3 | 5 May 2009
This Champions League semi-final second leg produced two goals in our countdown: the first is this rocket-fuelled free-kick that silenced the Emirates Stadium and sent us on our way to the final.

4: Portsmouth 1 United 3 | 11 February 2006

The beauty of Ronaldo was that he could score with either foot and, at Fratton Park, this long-range stunner showcased his unbelievable technique. And he wasn’t finished with Pompey…

3: United 2 Portsmouth 0 | 30 January 2008
In his final season at United, Ronaldo produced this unforgettable postage-stamp free-kick that was frankly ridiculous, leaving his team-mates in awe and opposition goalkeeper David James baffled.

2: Arsenal 1 United 3 | 5 May 2009
Ronaldo flicked a pass to Ji-sung Park in our half, spun, sprinted up the pitch to latch onto Wayne Rooney's pass and executed a back-post final that sent us to the Champions League final. Magic!

1: Porto 0 United 1 | 15 April 2009
Around 45 yards from goal, Ronaldo receives the ball, takes a quick touch and fires a missile-like shot into the top corner, scoring the only goal of the game and concluding our epic countdown.
