Revealed: The cover of Sunday's United Review

Thursday 14 March 2024 16:12

The front cover of Sunday’s United Review has a historical feel to it, displaying images from seven of our 10 FA Cup victories against Liverpool to date.

The Anfield club are our most common opponent in the competition, with the photos on the cover coming from our two Cup finals against them in 1977 and 1996, two semi-finals in 1979 and 1985, two third-round ties in 1999 and 2011, plus our behind-closed-doors fourth-round home win in 2021.

Let’s hope victory no.11 can be added to the list this weekend, to book a place in the competition’s semi-finals and maintain our hopes of lifting silverware.

As ever, our matchday programme is packed with great reading and continues to be a collectors’ item – you can order a copy for delivery or get yours at the ground on Sunday.

INSIDE THE PROGRAMME

Erik ten Hag’s notes are always a fascinating read and, in this latest edition, the manager is excited by the magnitude of the occasion.

The boss believes our fans can make the difference and he calls on everybody to contribute towards a famous Old Trafford atmosphere.

Sofyan Amrabat also speaks passionately in the big player interview, with the Morocco international saying: “This is like a final... you go or you are out!”

Old Trafford has of course hosted so many knockout ties where fans and players have really come together as one to see the Reds to victory. As we prepare for what we hope will be another such occasion, United Review takes a look at 10 of the most memorable.

Paddy Crerand muses on that theme in his ever-popular column, writing: “The noise is higher for these games and it can lift you in moments when you need it. Once the team get the crowd behind them, it’s fantastic. You can feel like you’re riding a wave. So, everyone’s got to step up.”
