Ronaldo adds to an incredible scoring stat

Cristiano Ronaldo has added yet another club to the list of sides he has scored against, as Manchester United beat Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.

The Portuguese attacker registered his first ever strike against the Seagulls - in his first meeting with them - by charging into the heart of their defence, skipping a challenge and powerfully firing beyond keeper Robert Sanchez, who was left rooted to the spot.

His exquisite opener put the Reds on course for an eventual 2-0 victory at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

By scoring at the expense of Graham Potter’s team, Cristiano has now applied the finishing touch against an astonishing 122 clubs across his prolific career, spanning his two spells with United, as well as stints in Portugal, Spain and Italy.

Remarkably, for the volume of goals he has scored, Ronaldo’s last three strikes have all been his first against that opponent - Norwich, Burnley and Brighton.

Meanwhile, by opening his calendar account for 2022, he has now also netted in 21 calendar years - further demonstrating the 37-year-old's timeless quality.

When asked about Ronaldo's breakthrough strike against Brighton in the post-match press conference, interim manager Ralf Rangnick said:

“It was an amazing goal. Not only an important one but an amazing goal.

“Overall it was also a good performance by Cristiano. Energetically he was online, he was always trying to help the other team-mates.

“I think in the last weeks that would be the best performance by him and it very, very important for us.”
