Ronaldo ended up on top, with 41 per cent of voters selecting the Portugal striker, who looked sharp and caused problems for the Albion defence.

It is the first time he has collected the award during Rangnick's tenure as his last Man-of-the-Match accolade was in the 3-2 win over Arsenal in early December, when Michael Carrick was in temporary charge.

Fernandes just edged out De Gea for second spot, with the midfielder unlucky not to win it for the second time since the turn of the year, after he was voted best performer in the 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.

De Gea made one stunning first-half save to deny Jakub Moder, when the Pole's header appeared destined to hand the visitors the lead.
