Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to social media to celebrate becoming the first-ever professional footballer to reach 800 career goals.

Our no.7 brought up the milestone with a strike that put us 2-1 up early in the second half of Thursday's win over Arsenal, and in true Ronaldo fashion, after Martin Odegaard's equaliser for the Gunners, he went on to make it 801 with the decisive penalty that saw us emerge as 3-2 winners at Old Trafford.

The 36-year-old, has taken to social media to celebrate the feat, with many others also congratulating CR7 on an achievement that has been culminated over a senior career just shy of two decades.

Our brilliant no.7 made history with his double against the Gunners.

"Very happy to become the first football player to score more than 800 official goals," Cristiano said on his official social media channels.

"What an amazing and unforgettable run this is becoming.

"Thank you to all my supporters for always standing by my side. 801 and still counting!"

Since beginning his career in his native Portugal with Sporting, he now has an astonishing 483 league goals to his name, as well as 130 in all competitions for United.

With recording breaking seemingly routine for Ronaldo now, players of past and present have also taken to social media over the past few days to congratulate the forward, on a landmark that again proves his dedication to the beautiful game.

Reds team-mate, and provider of our no.7's first goal against Arsenal in midweek, Marcus Rashford took to Instagram hail the record as "an amazing achievement."

Bruno Fernandes and Amad were also among those to show their appreciation for the achievement, on the app too, with the pair commenting "Incredible" and "GOAT" on Ronaldo's post respectively.

The Reds wrestled all three points away from the Gunners at Old Trafford.

There is no doubt that Ronaldo will now have his eye on goal no.802 and beyond when the Reds are next in action, against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, on Sunday.
