Ronaldo leads Premier League for home goals

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo now leads the way for Premier League goals scored by players in home matches this season.

United's no.7 netted his 14th Old Trafford strike of 2021/22 in Monday night's comprehensive 3-0 win over Brentford.

Ronaldo was brought down in the box by Rico Henry during the second half and was awarded a penalty which he got up to dispatch confidently, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

It capped off a Man-of-the-Match performance by the 37-year-old whose relentless hard work off the ball and flair on it saw him record another impressive showing across the 90 minutes.

Ronaldo has now scored 18 goals in the Premier League this season, the same tally he hit during his last campaign in the competition, back in 2008/09.

Five of those have come in his last three outings at the Theatre of Dreams, with recent strikes against Brentford and Chelsea following on from his hat-trick against Norwich in M16.

He is only now one goal behind Tottenham’s Son Heung-min and four behind Liverpool's Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot, having played less games than both.

After scoring in his last four Premier League outings, Ronaldo will no doubt be eyeing a continuation to this streak now during our next league outing, away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
