Welbeck set for another Old Trafford reunion

Danny Welbeck heads back to Old Trafford again as one of the Premier League's in-form strikers, with his previous work at Manchester United never forgotten.

The Academy graduate is, in fact, the last remaining member of our most recent title-winning squad*, in 2012/13, to still be competing in the English top flight.

Jonny Evans retired in the summer and Ashley Young left Everton to join Championship side Ipswich Town.

The Reds are aiming to make it three wins on the spin, when the Seagulls come to town.

Welbeck has two doubles to his name, against Chelsea and Newcastle United, in two impressive wins of late for the Seagulls.

Of course, he also has a good record against his former club, having netted six times against the Reds, since leaving for Arsenal in 2014.

Nonetheless, the 34-year-old, respected throughout the game, is set to receive a warm welcome back at his old home.

Welbz has 37 top-flight goals for the south-coast team, a joint club-high with Michael Robinson, and is clearly still somebody who can cause problems in the 17:30 BST kick-off.

"I have the passion and love for football," he said at the weekend. "It's what I want to do. I feel good. I feel strong and fit so I won't be stopping soon."

Welbeck played 27 times in the league during Sir Alex Ferguson's final season as manager, 13 coming as a starter.

His only goal in the division that term came in a 4-2 victory over Stoke City, the side he made his senior league debut against in 2008. However, he did find the net on a huge occasion, the away draw with Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
